Help me out here

I have a lot of free time to volunteer right now, so don't hesitate to ask. If I'm available and I can get there, I'm there. I really enjoyed doing time at the Utah Arts Festival, and I had the pleasure of hanging with Ken and Shannon at the People's Market this past Sunday.
The GLBTQ DWS group started out well. It was disappointing that nobody showed up to the last meeting however. I'd like to ask all of you mentors what things you do to keep people coming on a regular basis. I don't expect everyone to make every meeting, of course. From past experience, I believe that there is a need and desire for this group. I just need some help reaching people and keeping their interest.
You may e-mail me with suggestions at riograndereport@live.com .
I want to thank Susan Abney, chanel, and DvntWriter for their supportive comments to my last blog. And, chanel, in answer to your question, I've posted a photo.
Thanks
J

Volunteer Needed: Workshop Facilitator—Tasteful Narratives: Food Writing

Wednesdays, May 20th and 27th from 6pm to 8pm, the SLCC Community Writing Center will offer a food writing workshop: Tasteful Narratives. In this workshop, participants will write about a beautiful and simple necessity: food. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a chef, writer or just a good eater, food has metaphorical and transformative qualities.

This workshop needs a facilitator, someone willing to share food history and heritage, recipes and anecdotes, and help writers find inspiration and creativity in the process. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at cwc@slcc.edu.

Volunteer Training Dates

The SLCC Community Writing Center has several volunteer opportunities available. If you or someone you know is not yet a volunteer, we would love to meet and discuss current and upcoming volunteer opportunities. Our next volunteer orientation and training day will be:

Monday, November 10th
from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Following this orientation, we will schedule a time for training in the specific program each individual would like to volunteer with.

Space is limited. So, if you or someone you know is interested in attending, please contact the SLCC Community Writing Center at cwc@slcc.edu or 801.957.4992 to RSVP for the event. If you are unable to attend, please contact us to schedule a time for an independent training.
